Fifty-five years after the Equal Pay Act was signed, recent research shows that women today still struggle for gender equality in the workplace. Government data breaking down the average pay of men and women working full time show that in almost every occupation, men are paid more than women. And, for every one hundred men promoted to manager, seventy-nine women are promoted. Looking further up the corporate ladder, the gap is much more pronounced: only about 1 in 5 C-suite leaders is a woman. But, we don’t have to accept this reality; there is much we can do to create change for ourselves and for our communities.
